As has been the case for quite a while now, fashion is eclectic and the trends are many. There are countless fashion sites that will provide you with the fashion trend report for the current season. One of my favorites is Style.com because it allows you to view the stills of the official fashion week runway shows in New York. Each season I research using various sources (magazines, websites, fashion shows, other experts) in order to stay informed. For my busy clients, friends and contacts who want to find out about fashion quickly through a few point form notes, here it is:
Men
• Sophisticated tailored looks made from classic menswear pieces put together to create a trim silhouette (sleeker than traditional looks) Layer blazers with shirts, vests and scarves.
• Tailored corduroy, plaid blazer style jackets and trousers (separates paired with non-plaid items)
• Tailored trenches and top coats, eastern European inspired jackets with prominent faux fur collars (bomber and ¾ lengths)
• Workwear/utility inspired looks in jackets and footwear
Women
• Ultra feminine and glamorous – dresses, lace, ruffles, pleats – pair items containing these elements with structured pieces such as pencils skirts and straight leg trousers which flatter many body types
• Prevalent prints: florals, art inspired
• Black is back accompanied by metallics, bold elements such as studs and jewels
• Country charm and cowboy chic– woodsy looks and rustic prints/materials such as plaids, tweed, corduroy, checks, leather, and fringe
• Long skirts and sweaters, capes
